Midnite Gossip Invites Listeners to 'Brace for Flight' with New Single “Tightrope”
Calgary, AB, November 2024:
Calgary's cinematic alt-pop duo, Midnite Gossip—featuring Nicky Markin and Mickey Valenz (Her Motives Are Silent)—will release their latest single, "Tightrope," on November 8, 2024. Blending an alt-pop neo-soul vibe with layered, atmospheric production, Tightrope takes listeners through the discomfort of change, the pain of letting go, and the quiet strength it takes to move forward. Recommended for fans of Portishead, Massive Attack, and Phantogram, this track mixes deep, moody beats with catchy, emotional melodies.
“On the surface, ‘Tightrope’ may seem like another breakup song, but it’s really about embracing uncertainty and finding the courage to ‘brace for flight,’” says Markin.
Produced and recorded in their home studio and mixed and mastered by Trey Mills (Forest Blakk), the track blends lo-fi vocals, powerful bass, and unexpected beats. “The song doesn’t unfold how you’d expect, and that’s intentional,” says Valenz. “We wanted to keep listeners on their toes, much like navigating real-life challenges.”
Tightrope builds on the momentum of Midnite Gossip’s recent successes, including their “Live” EP from March 2024, which gained significant traction, charting on the CJSW’s electronic charts and their showcase at Canadian Music Week (2024). More singles are set to follow leading up to their debut EP in 2025, with each new track delving deeper into universally relatable themes– inviting listeners to reflect on their own journeys.
"Tightrope" will be available on all major streaming platforms on November 8, 2024. For updates on new releases and performances, visit midnitegossip.com and follow them on social media.
